Scent and received…

July 1, 2011 By Gail

It was one of those steamy days in Minnesota that fogs your sunglasses when you go outside. While walking Booker this morning, I listened to the almost soggy crunch of gravel under my flip flops. The humidity was not giving pardons on this day to man, beast, or rocks. (Nonetheless, I know I prefer that sound to the crisp crunch of snow underfoot in January!)
Later in the afternoon I stepped onto our deck and braced for the waves of heat. They came. But what delighted me was the scent of herbs. I had planted a blend of basil, sage, and rosemary in a container earlier in the spring. They have done well and are now a cacophony of stems and leaves. The intense heat was causing the plant oils to perfume the air like a diffuser, and I breathed in deeply. It wasn’t enough, I wanted more. I pulled off a basil leaf and crushed it in my fingers. The sweet smell filled me with pleasure, and lingered on my skin. I let Booker sniff it but he preferred the disgusting chew toy he had dug up. Apparently great scents are in the nose of the beholder. Basil’s perfume…it was the best part of my day.

A Message From Gail

Through my blog and website, I hope to share beauty, laughter, inspiration, aging & midlife lessons and advice on dealing with menopause. I will also devote time to integrative health and healing tips and news. I want feedback and questions because, while we may be sharing the journey, every woman has her own experience and her own story.

Thanks for all of the efforts on this website. Debby really likes going through internet research and it’s simple to grasp why. Most of us learn all relating to the compelling ways you present reliable information on this web blog and improve participation from others on this concept and our favorite daughter is now studying a lot of things. Take pleasure in the remaining portion of the new year. You are doing a good job.

Yes, yes, yes! I want participation. We are better as humans when we reach out and help each other.
Thanks for the visit and comments,
      🙂 Gail
