This past week I received two thank you notes. One was from my son, and one was from my daughter. Both of them are adults now, living on their own, and exceptionally good people.
Sorta.
My son wrote:
Mom,
Thank you so much for that wonderful Thanksgiving meal! It was a good time. Next year you should have 3 kinds of yams instead of just 2. I thought you set your bar low there…
love,
your brat.
My daughter wrote:
Dear Mom and Tad,
Thank you so much for hosting us. The food was amazing, your house welcoming and beautiful, and the time spent meaningful. I’m sorry I basically spread disease while I was there. I owe you some tea and Kleenex.Â

Having thoughtful AND snarky kids? They are the best part of my day.

From my friend, Claudia:
NOTHING beats snarky and wonderful kids!!! I adore it when my youngest pats my back and says, “Oh, Mom you are/were such a nerd! Poor little Claudia, always reading books and doing nerdy things.” It’s all true and so comforting to know someone sees me even when he wasn’t alive in the “old” days to have seen little Claudia!!

HA! I thought you’d mention that they say, “Mom, if you don’t get your clothes at “Hobbits R Us” they ain’t going to fit.” Short moms rock. I know from personal experience.

Ummmm…no. But thanks for the advice. I’ll pass it along to my web designer. AND, thanks for your persistence in your attempts to find me!
