Tagline

September 25, 2012 By Gail

The paper rustled and waved in the whoosh of the door’s opening. Is that what made me look? I don’t know. Tacked to the workout facility’s community cork board, a humble sheet of paper commanded my attention and sweetened my heart.

The 8 1/2 by 11 inch day changer was nestled in amongst business cards, objects for sale, and other miscellaneous announcements.  And, at first glance, it was like any other notice.  Standard typing paper sporting a bottom of little tear-off tags mimicking fringe from a 1970’s era jacket.  I am sure you know what I’m talking about… those little paper bits you can rip off with a phone number or other relevant information to take with you? Yeah, those.

But here’s the thing about this particular paper that made me so happy… instead of offering babysitting services, or a house for sale… this sheet of paper said simply “Take what you need.”  The little tear-off tags held words like, “Happiness,” “Love,” “Kindness,” “Prosperity,” “Healing,” and so on. The fun part was that most of the tags had already been taken.

In my rather vivid imagination I was hoping that some disgruntled person tore off a tag thinking, “Yeah, yeah, I could use some love today,” while rushing off to work. And then, as the day progressed, a situation developed in which that person reached into his or her pocket and the tiny bit of paper tickled his or her fingers. “Oh yeah, the love paper,” the person thought. And from there the person became more aware of love in his or her life. Or, maybe, just maybe, that person then began to give love back. Ooo la la!

I don’t know who put the paper up. I don’t know if the magic has been working. And yet realizing that someone had the vision to offer these words as gifts for all to take and use and consider, was the best part of my day.

A Message From Gail

Through my blog and website, I hope to share beauty, laughter, inspiration, aging & midlife lessons and advice on dealing with menopause. I will also devote time to integrative health and healing tips and news. I want feedback and questions because, while we may be sharing the journey, every woman has her own experience and her own story.

If you are like a lot of people you can simply overlook this. The best thing you can do is become relevant with yourself and faithful with your own morals. Generally this will lead to a mistaken and unproductive life.
