There seems to be a slow recognition of change as we age. We are surprised when we look in the mirror and discover a new wrinkle. And it’s not like it’s some tiny thing…it’s more like a valley running through your face complete with rock climbers and alpine skiers. How was it not there the day before?
My friend Jodi and I were talking about how hair does that too. One minute you’re feeling all sassy and normal and then, to your complete horror, see a hair growing from your chin that looks like a sequoia root. What the heck? Don’t even get us started about the new crop of lush hair growing over our lips. Teenage boys only wish their facial hair was as abundant. So, for now, we count on our friendly cosmetologists and discover the wonders of waxing. We haven’t quite worked up our confidence to go natural and let the hair migration take hold, but I’d love to hear how other women are dealing with “surprises.” I guess it’s true–life can get a bit hairy as we get older.
