Sweet Gratitude

November 26, 2014 By Gail

The crunch of footsteps schlepping through snow alerted me to the UPS delivery. I did a mental run down of my recent buying habits and, nope, I couldn’t come up with any expected deliveries. Huh.

The box, left like a Trojan horse just outside the door, beckoned. It was rectangular and smallish, but filled with possibilities. I brought it in, felt its heft, and cut it open. Inside I discovered a box of chocolates with a note from my son.

“I’m sorry our schedules make it difficult to have our weekly lunches. So… have some chocolates!” There was more, but my heart was already flooded.

Day in, day out, my life is filled with blessings. Big things like a home, food, love, and good health. But also little things like the purr of a cat, the sloppy lick of a joyous dog, a Post-it note left on the bathroom mirror by my husband saying I am adored, an e-mail from my daughter sharing a moment, or a surprise box of candy from a thoughtful son.

Thanksgiving is in two days. Officially. Unofficially, I experience it 365 days a year.
Here’s wishing you the same.

A Message From Gail

Through my blog and website, I hope to share beauty, laughter, inspiration, aging & midlife lessons and advice on dealing with menopause. I will also devote time to integrative health and healing tips and news. I want feedback and questions because, while we may be sharing the journey, every woman has her own experience and her own story.
