I’ve come to the conclusion that women, particularly women in the second half of life, have questions about sex.
–They want to know what other women are experiencing now that midlife is imposing changes to the physical, mental, and sexual aspects of gett’n some.
–They want to know whom they can trust to ask those questions
–They want to know, by comparison, if they are, well, normal.
I have some suggestions!
–First, I hope you have a healer you believe in. He or she is the person I would start with should the questions be of a more physical nature. Is your vagina too dry? Does intercourse suddenly hurt? Are you simply not feeling your freak anymore? (Probably hormonally related, but talking to a healer is a place to start the sorting process.)
–Second, a place like the Smitten Kitten can answer lots and lots of questions about toys, vibrators, lubes, and other more sexually-nuanced issues. Sex should have an active play component. At least I think so.
–Third, find a place where women feel safe to talk about pretty much anything. My website, agingschmaging.com, is one such place. I welcome stories and questions that we can hash out together.
Aging But Dangerous, is another excellent place to bring your questions and comments online and/or to their gatherings. The women who attend are supportive, hilarious, and yes, dangerous in all the best ways.
And, one of my new favorites, Our Better Half with Laura Lyster-Mensh, as podcast host supreme! Laura puts together provocative interviews, humorous snippets, Kegel breaks, and an “explain that to grandma†moment that I adore. She contacted me a while back and asked if I would be willing to talk about a recent visit to the Smitten Kitten. Of course, I will share! If it helps a woman feel better about herself or gives some teeny nudge in the direction she wants to explore or regain, I’m there.  I hope you like the interview and please continue to tune into Laura’s show. She really does rock this second half of life learning curve.
P.S. That’s Laura wearing one of my scarves! Woot! Woot!

I just listened to the episode. You rocked it!
I hope that you and Laura have future episodes lined up. Not only are you a naturally gifted writer, you have a great voice and the confidence to back it up.
