Who’s NOLA, you say? Isn’t she that woman who sings Come Away With Me and plays the piano? Actually NOLA is a where, not a who…New Orleans, LA, to be specific. If you’ve never visited New Orleans, but have always wanted to go, I want to make you aware of an extraordinary person, Cassandra Snyder. If you’ve been to New Orleans and hit all the touristy places and now would like more “insider†places to go, see, do, I want to make you aware of an extraordinary person, yep, once again Cassandra Snyder.
We first met Cassandra a couple of years ago when she and a dear friend of mine, Dianne Aigaki, offered a tour of New Orleans. My husband and I had never experienced the area, and where impressed with the itinerary Cassandra and Dianne had crafted. We quickly made our reservations.
Needless to say we had a blast. Great food, art, music, and experiences crammed into three days of Cajun goodness. A year later, Dianne passed away from cancer, and I’ve been grateful we had the time with her in New Orleans. She loved the people and the place deeply, and to witness it through her and Cassandra’s eyes was special.
Today I received an email from Cassandra saying she is honored and inspired to keep the tours going because of Dianne. Cassandra can customize, suggest, create and guide a tour that will leave you smiling for a long, long, time. I know because I’m still smiling from the evening at Preservation Hall where our group shimmied and gyrated to authentic jazz. And then there’s Bourbon Street, of course, where almost anything seems to go. But it was the small venues that touched the heart. We visited a remarkable photographer who lights abandoned houses and creates mesmerizing photographs. We had a couple meals on our own where we schmoozed with the locals and felt welcomed. And a tour of a bayou was creepy and wildly gorgeous at the same time.
So, if you’d like to check out Cassandra’s website, go to Soul of Nola
I promise you will have a personalize adventure if you choose to go. Just thinking about our time down there is the best part of my day.
