I have been lusting…seriously lusting…to own this lens for the past three years. The cost was sobering and I wondered if I waited if it would go down. Interestingly, the cost didn’t change all that much. I rationalized that meant it was a core, worth-the-investment lens. My husband bought it for me as a graduation gift and I’ve only begun the exploration of what it can do. So far the images I’m getting are excellent. Yes, as everybody who has used this lens says, “It is frigg’n heavy.” But that speaks to the quality glass within, and I wouldn’t want less weight for that reason. Adorama, in my view, had the best price as I shopped for this lens over the years, and that is where my husband purchased my over-the-top gift.
