Each month I “ambush” a woman I feel exemplifies creativity, kindness, and vibrancy. A woman blazing trails in the second half of life. Mary Ann Jindra, who along with her husband, John, owns Gustaf’s Galleries in Lindstrom, MN, exudes all of those traits and more.
I met her recently while in the hunt for a person who could print and frame a photograph I would be entering in a show. Mary Ann blew me away with her enthusiasm, her knowledge, and her personality. She made me feel as though my art and my needs were her top priority. Her suggestions were spot on, and I learned there are some interesting new approaches, and options, to traditional framing. Perhaps that is why she and her husband have been successful since 1973, a rarity in the art framing world. As it says on their home page:
Since 1973, the longest running independent art gallery of its kind in Minnesota with over 6,000 square feet of gallery space, representing professional regional artists from the Upper Midwest including media in oils, watercolors, mixed media, photography, hand-pulled prints, sculpture, pottery, glass, wood, and jewelry.

Thank you, Mary Ann, for all you do and for being March’s Silk Scarf Ambush model!
