Ambush Smiles

March 21, 2015 By Gail

Do you ever come across something while you’re supposed to be doing something productive, and get lost in a memory? For instance, let’s say somebody whose name rhymes with “Sail” is cleaning a closet. (I know, I know. My closets hold their clutter like a pregnancy in its twelfth month. Just go with me here and stop rolling your eyes.) As Sail sorts through a box of knick knacks she finds a birthday card hand-drawn by her daughter.

Immediately Sail is sent back in time and remembers when her daughter loved to draw those sassy pigs with bikinis. Those pink sows had attitude! The idea of it never failed to cause laughter and my heart to get melty. Er, I mean “Sail’s” heart to get melty.

Where does time go?  My son and daughter were just babies a mere second ago.

At least the card survived the closet attack and is sitting happily on Sail’s desk. Ambush moments…the happy kind…are the best part of my day.

A Message From Gail

Through my blog and website, I hope to share beauty, laughter, inspiration, aging & midlife lessons and advice on dealing with menopause. I will also devote time to integrative health and healing tips and news. I want feedback and questions because, while we may be sharing the journey, every woman has her own experience and her own story.
