The shopping list was long and my available time was short. To make matters worse, this was my third trip into town for forgotten items. I’m hosting Thanksgiving and my scattered brain gives clarity in short spurts only. Wanting to shop local I first stopped at the food co-op. Most items cost more, but I’m pleased with the high quality and knowing I’m helping local farmers and producers earn a fair living. I’ve discovered some things—such as raw honey—are very reasonable and incredibly delicious. My next stop found me at the liquor store where the clerks, and even a man delivering cases of wine, were very helpful. I don’t know why they were so happy, but I liked the atmosphere and it made my errands feel like play. That left me with my Wal-Mart items. My issue with shopping Wal-Mart is that the store is so big I feel like I waste time going from one end to find paper to the other to get a quart of cream. The exercise is good, but the clock goes ticky-tick, ticky-tick. As I was loading the counter with my groceries the cashier told me she was going to price match a number of items and gave me a deal on the spot. I know Wal-Mart has been advertising price matching, but I was under the assumption you had to ask for it. So let me re-cap…I helped the local producers and in return purchased healthy, minimally refined food, I got my smile on at the liquor store, and I was given un-asked for bargains at Wal-Mart. As the holidays approach it was delightful to be part of such a wonderful energy exchange. Unexpected kindness was the best part of my day.

Thanks for the kind words and the visit. I had an idea for the theme and then worked with Lauren at TechCon to polish and tweak how the website would look. Lauren really captured the essence of what I wanted and offered a variety of possibilities. She is extremely talanted and I can’t sing her praises enough. The photos, as icons, are all from my family album, and the photos I use with the blog are 99% shots I’ve taken myself. It’s all about creative expression, fun, and sharing.
