I consider myself a fairly decent cook. I base that on the fact that, to my knowledge, nobody has died from eating my food. One of the mental abuses I suffer is loving healthy eating and loving sugar and chocolate. It’s like having a sugar devil on one shoulder and a whole foods angel on the other. (They mostly look like shoulder pads from the 80’s, so people just think I’m either hopelessly out of date or retro.)
My friend Eva is from Sweden and is studying to be a Traditional Naturopathic provider. Her office not only feels inviting and calm, but she has these beautiful jars of dried herbs lining the wall. It just plain looks cool. Being Eva, and very thoughtful, she serves me these amazing made-from-scratch Swedish pastries, French herbal tea, AND, a chocolate pudding that was like God coated my tongue in happiness. Just as my guilty devel is dancing, Eva tells me what is actually in the pudding and I’m shocked. Let’s just say it is GOOD for you. Now my good angel has chocolate on her face because she jumped in to lick off any remaining smudges on the plate.
Eva will be offering healthy cooking classes from her home. If anyone is interested, or just wants to ask her questions, her e-mail address is evvienaturopathy@yahoo.com.
Guilt-free chocolate…it was the best part of my day. Shoulder pads are coming back in aren’t they?
