Mom loved puns and quotable sayings. My childhood home had items hanging all over the place that were smart, painfully-punny, and funny. One said:
“The wise old owl sat in the oak
the more he saw the less he spoke
the less he spoke the more he heard
why can’t we all be like that wise old bird?â€
Another:
“There is nothing so good for the inside of a man as the outside of a horse.”
Another:
“It’s not the tool, it’s the man who uses it.” (That one took me years to figure out.)
Another old one:
“I owe, I owe, it’s off to work I go…â€
My point is this, I come by my affection for these sentiments honestly and historically. Nowadays sayings often come as magnets. I saw one on a friend’s website that said, “Sometimes I wrestle with my demons, and other times we just snuggle.†I hooted. I snuggle too.
Another one from her site:
“There comes a point when you have to realize that you’ll never be good enough for some people. The question is, is that your problem or theirs?”
Gotta love that! Having these little wisdoms in tiny magnetized convenience? The best part of my day.
